The guide will show you how to install the classic editor in WordPress and make a blog post.
To Start go to Post and Then Add New.
If your post editor looks like the image below then you have the gutenberg editor.
We are going to switch to the classic editor which is much easier to use.
To Switch to the Classic Editor, go to Plugins and then Add New as shown below. You will probably see the classic editor but if not you can search for it. Once you find it click Install Now and then Activate.
You can now go back to creating a blog post and use the classic editor.
Creating A Blog Post Using The Classic Editor
When creating a blog post you will need to put in a title, the post itself, a featured images and probably some images for the post. You can see all those elements in the image below. The featured image is the image that is shown above the blog post. If you look at the homepage of my thedigitalmarketingprofessor.com website you will see that the featured image also shows as the image for the blog post there. It is important to put a featured image in.
Also, when writing a blog post you should keep the paragraphs short. You should never have a paragraph that is more than two sentences. People don’t want to read big chunks of text. You also need to use a lot of titles and subtitles to help the reader find the information they are looking for and to make the blog post easy to navigate.

The screenshot below shows a blog post a student wrote a couple years ago. He came to my office to get some help with the formatting.
His post talked about four different sports bars and I helped him make changes to the first sports bar. Look at how much easier the information is to find and read in the first paragraph compared to the last three.
The only information we added was the map and the address. Everything else was in the original post. We made the fonts big and the titles even bigger. We added about 10 more subtitles to help guide the reader through the post.
You wouldn’t wan’t to read those big huge chunks of text from the last 3 sports bars. It forces you to put a lot of cognitive effort into deciphering what information is in there. But when we break it up like we did with the first one, it is so much easier to read and we can pick out the information that is important to us.
